News: National Railway Museum reveals Butler Henderson is next!

By Mike Wild on 2 April 2012, 15:16

The National Railway Museum has revealed that its next special commission in partnership with Bachmann will be Robinson ‘D11/1’ 4-4-0 506 Butler Henderson and it is expected to be available during 2012.

The announcement of the ‘D11/1’ – known as the ‘Improved Director’ – follows Bachmann’s plans to produce the ‘D11/2’ 4-4-0 ‘Scottish Director’. The announcement of 506 Butler Henderson has been brought forward following a large volume of enquiries from modellers for the ‘D11/1’ and it will become the fourth exclusive edition model to be produced for the National Railway Museum.

Just 11 ‘D11/1’ 4-4-0s were introduced by the Great Central Railway between 1919 and 1922. 506 Butler Henderson was built at the GCR’s Gorton works and was named after company director Eric Butler-Henderson. In preservation 506 is currently based at Barrow Hill.

The new model of 506 Butler Henderson will only be available from the National Railway Museum in the attractive Great Central Railway lined green livery. It can be pre-ordered for £130.00 plus postage and packaging online at www.nrmshop.co.uk or by calling 0151 650 6062.
