Hatton’s RHTT for ‘OO’

Hatton’s has unveiled plans to produce Network Rail’s Railhead Treatment Train (RHTT) for ‘OO’ gauge.

Introduced in the mid-2000s, the RHTTs are utilised to improve railhead conditions during the leaf-fall season from October to December each year, formed of FEA-F container flat wagons fitted with a series of interchangeable modules and usually top and tailed by freight locomotives.

Specification for these new models includes fully-detailed underframe, removable water tank, sandite and water jet modules, separately fitted brake pipes, lamp irons, RP25 wheel profiles, NEM coupler pockets and more.

Four two-vehicle sets will be produced with Sandite and Water Jet options in a choice of pristine or weathered finish, while two extension packs containing an additional water wagon with three water modules will also be available to extend the formation to three vehicles.

Prices for two-car packs are set at £118 for pristine models, £126 for weathered sets, while the additional extension packs will be priced at £59 (pristine) and £63 (weathered) respectively.

Allied to this, Hatton’s has also revealed plans to produce the similar FEA-E and FEA-S single Intermodal wagons for ‘OO’, too.

Five FEA-E and seven FEA-S single Intermodal bogie wagons are planned in Freightliner, GB Railfreight, Metronet and Transplant liveries, with variants to include those fitted with track panel carriers too.

Prices are set at £32 for standard wagons and £50/£59 for track panel carrier fitted examples.

Delivery for both projects is anticipated in late 2018.
