Kernow to produce ‘Turbot’ ballast wagon

 

Kernow Model Rail Centre (KMRC) is producing a ready-to-run ‘OO’ gauge YCV ‘Turbot’ bogie ballast wagon.

Converted from Bogie Bolster E wagons in the 1980s, almost 1,000 ‘Turbot’ wagons were built at BR’s workshops at Shildon, Swindon and Doncaster for use on civil engineers’ trains. Most were withdrawn by the mid-2000s.

KMRC’s model will incorporate a detailed body and underframe, three-hole metal wheels and short tension lock NEM couplings. They will be available in as-built condition in pristine civil engineers’ ‘Dutch’ grey and yellow as YCV ‘Turbots’ together with EWS livery which also had a later modification with extra handrails fitted Four versions in each colour scheme will be available.

Priced at £29.99 each, a pre-order saving of £20 on a pack of four in either style is also available.
