Hornby shows new ‘8F’ and ‘4MT’ samples

Hornby has revealed pre-production samples of its new versions of the Stanier ‘8F’ 2-8-0 and BR ‘4MT’ 4-6-0 which are being reintroduced to its range in 2017.

The ‘8F’ is gaining a tender mounted 8-pin decoder socket – previous versions having a locomotive mounted socket in the forward portion of the boiler – and it is also to be issued with a Fowler tender for the first time on this generation of models.

On release the ‘8F’ will be available as 8035 in LMS black with a Stanier tender (Cat No. R3565) and as 48045 in BR black with late crests and a Fowler tender (R3564). The price per model will be £144.99 with release anticipated in January 2018.

The BR ‘4MT’ meanwhile will available in BR green for the first time since it was first introduced by Hornby in 2009. It is being produced as 75008 in BR lined green with late crests (R3547) and as 75053 in BR lined black with early crests (R3548). Both will feature tender mounted 8-pin decoder sockets.
